Car park design starts for Kay Street in Traralgon and Commercial Road in Morwell
Design starts for Traralgon's Kay Street and Morwell's Commercial Road Car Park projects, part of Victoria's Regional Car Parks Fund aiming for 900 new spaces across Traralgon, Morwell, and Moe.
Latrobe City Council is excited to announce that design work has commenced for two major local Car Park projects, located at 2 Kay Street, Traralgon and 141 Commercial Road, Morwell. Katz Architecture have been appointed as the lead design consultants of the Car Park at Kay Street, Traralgon and MGS Architects have been appointed as the lead design consultants of the Car Park at Commercial Road, Morwell.
Funded in the 2019/20 State Budget, the Regional Car Parks Fund is being delivered through Regional Development Victoria together with local councils, government transport agencies and key local partners
Increasing parking spaces
Both Car Parks will receive a major multi-level redevelopment to increase car park spaces as part of the Victorian government's Regional Car Parks Fund (RCPF), which is set to deliver 900 new spaces across Traralgon, Morwell, and Moe.
So far, over 250 car parks have already been delivered in Morwell and Moe under the RCPF with construction underway to deliver up to 110 additional spaces to the Seymour and Hotham Street multi-level Car Park in Traralgon.
Supporting city growth
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Darren Howe is very excited to see the car park projects underway. "As Our Transition plan outlines, it is our priority to move towards a bigger and brighter future for Latrobe City. It's important that we have the assets in place to accommodate the growth of our city."
"We are thankful of the significant financial support of the Victorian government for this project which will deliver car park spaces that are both functional and accessible, so that community members and visitors can spend more time in the CBD," said the Mayor.
