Now is the perfect time to shine a spotlight on an unsung hero who has made a positive contribution to our community, with nominations now open for East Gippsland Shire's Australia Day Awards. Take the time to submit a nomination for someone you believe is deserving of an accolade for their contribution to our region over the past 12 months.
This could be a friend, work colleague, someone involved with your local sports club or someone you know doing a great job serving and supporting their community during challenging times.
Council presents shire-wide Australia Day Awards which focus on individuals and events that have made a significant contribution to the region
Nomination category
The Australia Day Award nomination categories are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
Mayor, Cr Mark Reeves said he looks forward to celebrating those individuals and groups who go above and beyond in our community.
Acknowledgement and appreciation
Cr Mark Reeves said"I am always proud of the number of nominations we receive for these awards for achievers in all age groups and walks of life. It truly shows the diversity and community spirit of those who live in East Gippsland."
"We need to acknowledge these special people and show our appreciation to inspire others to continue building on the work already being carried out by those who make a difference." Cr Reeves said.
