Bullock Island redevelopment
Mr Chester said, "The community has worked for more than 20 years to secure funding to redevelop Bullock Island for walkers, anglers and sight-seeing. The new bridge with improved pedestrian access was funded by the previous federal government and that has allowed Council to use its resources for other improvements on the island."
"The state government has fixed the sea-walls and the fishing co-op is building a new on-water cafe which will add to the appeal of Bullock Island."
Mr Chester said the ongoing infrastructure projects in Lakes Entrance would secure the town's reputation as a premier tourism destination while also helping to attract and retain skilled workers," he added.
Economy, livability and progress
Mr Chester said, "Our visitor economy is critical for local jobs and the same infrastructure which make us an attractive destination is also important for encouraging families to live and work in East Gippsland. On top of the Esplanade redevelopment which has occurred over the past five years, these latest projects are setting up the future prosperity of Lakes Entrance."
"I'm looking forward to the Bullock Island work being completed and work crews moving on to other projects that we have also secured funding for in Lakes Entrance," he said.
