Mark Reeves Mayor of East Gippsland Shire Council elected as new One Gippsland Chair
New leadership for One Gippsland, Cr Mark Reeves Mayor of East Gippsland Shire Council was elected as chair.
One Gippsland has welcomed a new leadership team for 2023 with the election of a new Chair, Deputy Chair and fresh faces on the Board. Cr Mark Reeves Mayor of East Gippsland Shire Council was elected as Chair. Cr Nathan Hersey Mayor of South Gippsland Shire Council (and new member to the board) was also elected as Deputy Chair.

The new One Gippsland Chair Cr Mark Reeves said "Gippsland is a prosperous and growing region, with strong aspirations to be one of the most liveable regions in Australia. One Gippsland works closely with all levels of government and across the wider community to ensure our beautiful region is a great place to live and work and is capable of fulfilling its economic potential," Cr Reeves explained.
Cr Reeves takes over from Cr Kellie O'Callaghan, Mayor of Latrobe City Council who chaired One Gippsland over the course of a busy 12 months. Cr Reeves thanked Cr O'Callaghan for her hard work and dedication to the region saying, "Cr O'Callaghan's leadership has been important for our region during a busy double election year, and I would like to thank her for efforts."
Capitalise on strengths
Cr Reeves and Cr Hersey were also joined by the following new board representatives:
- Cr Annemarie McCabe - Mayor, Baw Baw Shire Council
- Ms Jan Fitzgerald - Chair, Destination Gippsland
- Mr Paul Buckley - Chair, TAFE Gippsland
"As Chair, I will be advocating that Gippsland requires strategic investment in connectivity, education, health and tourism to fuel our post-Covid recovery and capitalise on our strengths as a regional economic powerhouse" Cr Reeves declared.
