Information session for a proposed local Wet Waste Drying Facility at Hyland Highway Landfill near Loy Yang on 19 April 2023
On 19 April, join the info session on a local Wet Waste Drying Facility at Hyland Highway Landfill to reduce operational costs of drainage waste disposal in Latrobe City.
Latrobe City Council is encouraging community members to attend an information session for a proposed local Wet Waste Drying Facility this April. The proposed location of the facility is at Hyland Highway Landfill. The facility would streamline drainage waste from Latrobe City's network of stormwater drainage pits, pipelines and gross pollutant traps to minimise operational costs associated with typical disposal.

The session is open to the public and will be held on Wednesday 19 April 2023 at 5.00pm, at the Landfill Education Centre, Hyland Highway Landfill. Council representatives and an environmental consultant will be on hand to provide an in-depth summary of the proposal and address any questions that the community may have.
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan said all community members with an interest in the proposal are encouraged to attend the session. "Our community members have an opportunity to attend information sessions and learn more about proposals that are of interest to them."
"The proposed Wet Waste Drying Facility is a potential way for council to better handle drainage waste in a more cost-effective manner. We hope to see community members come along and ask staff and the environmental consultant any burning questions they may have to get a better understanding of the facility," said the Mayor.
