Nominations for Wellington Shire Council 2022 Australia Day Awards closing soon
Time is fast running out to nominate a person or group for recognition in Wellington Shire Council's 2022 Australia Day Awards.
Council is urging community groups and individuals to nominate people who are working hard to make Wellington a better place. The Australia Day Awards cover contributions made across a range of fields and recognise community members who make a positive difference to the vibrancy of the municipality and improve the lives of Wellington residents.
Your nominations should detail how the person or group's work has been of benefit to others, for individuals please provide as much detail as possible in relation to their contribution including positions held, community groups they have been a member of, and their involvement in any relevant project
Nominations and awards
With the Event of the Year category suspended again due to the cancellation of many events during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Covid Hero award will remain as a category in 2022. Nominations are being sought in the following four categories:
Citizen of the Year
A person aged 25 years or older who has made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the Wellington community over a number of years.
Young Citizen of the Year
A person aged 24 years or younger who has made a significant contribution during the year and/or given outstanding service to the Wellington community over a number of years.
Community Group of the Year
A group that has made a significant sustained contribution to the Wellington community.
Covid Hero
A person who has worked on the frontline at a time when Covid-19 has been threatening.
You can nominate any person or group that has made a significant contribution to the community. For the Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year the efforts of the person being nominated will usually include community involvement over a number of years. The strongest nominations are usually those where efforts have had a positive impact on the broader community.
Visit Wellington Shire Australia Day Awards 2022 to nominate someone before Sunday 31 October.
