Nominations for East Gippsland Australia Day Awards 2024 close by 3 December 2023
Nominate remarkable community contributors for the 2024 East Gippsland Australia Day Awards by Dec 3. Recognize individuals, youth leaders, and outstanding events showcasing community spirit.
There is still time to nominate a stand-out community member or event for the 2024 East Gippsland Australia Day Awards. Organised by East Gippsland Shire Council, the shire-wide awards recognise and honour outstanding individuals and groups who have made significant contributions and demonstrated dedication to their community. The Australia Day Awards celebrate the spirit of mateship, community service, and excellence, reflecting the values that make East Gippsland a vibrant and cohesive region.

Awards categories
Residents of East Gippsland are invited to submit nominations for individuals or groups who have positively impacted the community. The award categories are:
- Citizen of the Year: Recognising an individual who has made a significant and positive impact on the community
- Young Citizen of the Year: Acknowledging a young person (under 27 years old on 26 January 2024) who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and community involvement
- Community Event of the Year: Celebrating a great event and its organising committee
The closing date for nominations is Sunday, December 3, 2023.

Mayor Cr Tom Crook asked people to take the time to nominate someone making a valuable contribution to their local area. "So many East Gippsland residents are making a special impact for their communities, and now is the time to acknowledge them for their efforts."
"These awards are a wonderful opportunity to shine a spotlight on those who contribute selflessly to our community. I encourage everyone in East Gippsland to nominate deserving individuals or groups who have made a positive impact on the lives of others," Cr Crook said.
Nominations can be submitted online through council's website, 2024 Australia Day Awards and at Customer Service Centres. A list of past recipients is also available on the Australia Day page on council's website. The Australia Day Award recipients and nominees will be announced at a ceremony in January 2024.
