Berry's Creek Gourmet Cheese from South Gippsland shines at Victorian Parliament tasting
Berry's Creek Gourmet Cheese from South Gippsland triumphs at State Parliament's cheese tasting, reinforcing its global acclaim. Nationals Member Danny O'Brien celebrates, highlighting Gippsland's exceptional food producers.
South Gippsland's Berry's Creek Gourmet Cheese has won yet another award - this time becoming the toast of State Parliament. The Nationals Member for Gippsland South, Danny O'Brien said after conquering the world, Berry's Creek Cheese had little to prove but had picked up another gong in State Parliament this week. Nationals MPs from across the state each brought a cheese from their electorates which was subject to a tasting competition judged by the Parliamentary Press Gallery.

Cheese triumph celebrated
Mr O'Brien said, "I am very pleased to say, but with no surprise whatsoever, that the Berry's Creek Riverine Blue that I submitted was a comfortable winner on the night. It just goes to show that even the media can pick a good cheese when they taste it! This was all a bit of fun after Parliament rose on Wednesday night and I am not surprised that our media friends thoroughly enjoyed the Berry's Creek product."
"Barry Charlton and Cheryl Hulls have proven time again that they and their team produce world class cheeses, most notably being named the best specialist and artisan cheese makers in the world earlier this year. In that context a win with the Parliamentary Press Gallery is hardly earth shattering but it helps build a bit of Gippsland pride in State Parliament."
"Right across Gippsland South we have many exceptional food producers which was also highlighted on Wednesday when Corner Inlet calamari was served at a Victorian Fisheries Authority and Seafood Industry Victoria function at Queens Hall. We produce the best, we know we produce the best, and now people who work at Parliament are learning that too," said Mr O'Brien.
