South Gippsland Shire Council meeting snapshot - 22 April 2022
Summary of key decisions made at the Ordinary Council Meeting on Wednesday 20 April 2022.
This month's meeting began with a pause of standing orders to allow Mayor Davies to present some background information on how the Integrated Planning process was done and explain how councillors have connected with the community to develop the draft plans. Mayor Davies spoke passionately about the commitment of councillors and staff, the deliberation and preparation involved in the development of the drafts, and the upcoming community engagement campaign.

Draft community vision 2040
Council endorsed the Draft Community Vision 2040 and is now available for public comment until 15 May 2022. The Draft Community Vision 2040 can be found in the Provide feedback plan page.
Draft council plan 2022 - 2026
Council endorsed the Draft Council Plan 2022 - 2026 and is now available for public comment until 15 May 2022. The Draft Council Plan 2022 - 2026 can be found in the full Provide feedback plan page.
Proposed drafts
Long-Term Financial Plan (10 Year Plan), Revenue and Rating Plan 2022 - 2026, and Annual Budget 2022/23 - 2025/26, the council endorsed these drafts. They are now available for public comment until 15 May 2022. These proposed drafts can be found in the Provide feedback plan page.
Draft asset plan
Council endorsed the Draft Asset Plan and is now available for public comment until 15 May 2022. The Draft Asset Plan can be found in the Provide feedback plan page.
Domestic wastewater management

Arts, culture and creative industries
Draft Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Strategy 2022 - 2026, council endorsed the Draft Arts, Culture and Creative Industries Strategy 2022 - 2026 and its release to the public for community feedback until 15 May 2022. Significant consultation was undertaken before the plans were developed, including community engagement and survey that received over 2,000 responses
Petition response
Fire break
For the emergency management - fire break on Venus Bay, council resolved to receive and note the petition, work with the land owner to address fire safety concerns, continue to complete the annual private property fire hazard inspection process, and write to the lead petitioner detailing the outcome. Request to seal
With the petition response - request to seal Canavans Road, Mount Eccles, council resolved to not seal Canavans Road, Mount Eccles at this stage as the road does not meet the average traffic volumes required (150 vehicles per day) for the sealing of a road. It also resolved to add Canavans Road, Mount Eccles to the unsealed road maintenance re-sheeting program to ensure that the service levels in council's Road Management Plan 2022 are maintained and write to the lead petitioner detailing the outcome of the report. Planning scheme amendment
For the planning scheme amendment C125 general amendment, council adopted minor amendments to the South Gippsland Planning Scheme C125 and submitted to the Minister for Planning for approval.
