Biggs Drive crossing upgrade will improve accessibility to Wonthaggi CBD and include pram access
Bass Coast Shire Council is fully funding this $40,000 project, which will get underway from Monday, 7 March and take two weeks to complete.
To enable improved accessibility around the Wonthaggi CBD, the pram crossings at the roundabout located at the intersection of Biggs Drive and the Wonthaggi Plaza and Big W car parks will be upgraded this month. Project includes the replacement of the existing pram crossings with improved grades for accessibility, kerb and channel and footpath sections on the roundabout's exits on Biggs Drive and the entrance to the Big W car park.
The aim of this project is to improve safe pram crossing access for pedestrians in the community and these works will give residents along the streets and the greater area, a safe pram crossing access to the existing footpath network to the nearby shopping precinct
Unlocking opportunities for Wonthaggi
The project adds to many others that are unlocking opportunities for Wonthaggi as a regional centre. The works will include the use of large plant and machinery, power tools and trucks delivering materials to site. Council understands that these works may be noisy at times, and present an inconvenience to nearby residents and appreciates their patience during these times.
Appropriate traffic and pedestrian measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works. The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
