Petitions
Drouin Primary Parking Petition
A petition with 88 signatories has been submitted to council requesting that parking problems at Drouin Primary School be addressed. This was moved by Cr Cook.
Planning and development
Petition Response: Restrict Truck access to Gould Street, Drouin. Council resolved to:
- Do not impose new restrictions on the hours in which trucks may operate in Gould Street, Drouin not on the size of truck which may access that street
- Do not remove from the Drouin Precinct Structure Plan the planned roundabout at the intersection of Main South Road, Weebar Road and Gould Street
- Maintain Gould Street, Drouin to the current level of service in line with council's Road Management Plan
- Advise the lead petitioner of council's decision
Social and Affordable Housing Proposal - 18 Mason Street, Warragul
Council moved an amended recommendation to:
- Support the increased provision of social and affordable housing in Baw Baw Shire
- Endorse the assessment of the proposed development at 18 Mason Street, Warragul, in accordance with the Baw Baw Shire Planning Scheme and the submission to be provided to Housing Choices Australia and the Responsible Authority for the proposal
- Request the CEO to write to the Responsible Authority requesting Baw Baw Shire's Planning departments be consulted in relation to the provision of future sites for Social and Affordable Housing in Baw Baw Shire
- Request consideration of alternate locations for the development given the assessment of the proposal
Community infrastructure
Tender Recommendation Report - RFT-2023007 - Closed Trafalgar Landfill Leachate Treatment
Council moved to award the tender RFT-2023007 Closed Trafalgar Landfill Leachate Treatment (CON-2023007) to Valley Pumps & Irrigation (Resebe Pty Ltd) for an initial term of four years commencing 1 August 2023 to 31 July 2023
Council delegates authority to the CEO to sign the contract documents and execute the contract, and delegate authority to the CEO to extend the contract period by 1 + 3 Years under the contract extension options
Baw Baw Road safety strategy
Council noted the community feedback received during the public exhibition period for the draft Baw Baw Road Safety Strategy 2023-2027 and adopted the Baw Baw Road Safety Strategy 2023-2027.
Development, grants and advocacy
Draft Masterplan Walhalla
Council endorsed the Draft Walhalla Masterplan for community consultation and will undertake community consultation from 10 July 2023 to 31 July 2023.
Strategy and performance
2022/23 Community Sponsorship Grants Round Two Application Outcomes
Council noted the outcomes of the 2022/23 Community Sponsorship Grants Round Two applications.
Governance and information
Council committee appointments
Council moved to appoint a councillor to the CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee and Early Years Advisory Committee for the remainder of the 2022/23 period.
Notices of motion
Design and construction of Weebar Road Roundabout
Cr Keith Cook moved a Notice of Motion with a further amendment. This requested a report be brought back on the funding options for council to design and initiate the construction of the Weebar Road roundabout in the 2023/24 or 2024/25 budget year. This was seconded by Cr Jones.
General business motion tabled by Cr Danny Goss
Cr Goss moved a General Business Motion requesting a report be brought back detailing the effects to Baw Baw Shire from the expenditure cuts in that Budget. This motion was lost.
Mayoral Minute
Mayor McCabe used her Mayoral Minute to highlight upcoming events in NAIDOC Week from 3 July - 9 July. She encouraged councillors and community members to get involved in the week.
