Regional roads need to be fixed permanently and not temporarily is what Andrews Labor government needs to do
Local road users have been left out-of-pocket recently as poor road conditions have resulted in damage to vehicles.
The Nationals Member for Gippsland South and Shadow Minister for Roads and Roads Safety, Danny O'Brien is calling on the Andrews Labor government to ensure roads are repaired and maintained to a condition that ensures vehicles and their occupants are not left at risk. "I have been contacted by a number of road users who have been left thousands of dollars out of pocket after having to replace wheels and tyres due to poor road surfaces," Mr O'Brien said.

Fix Victoria's roads
Mr O'Brien said, "Victorian road users shouldn't have to worry about whether our highways are fit for their vehicles which is why The Nationals had committed to $10 billion in funding over 10 years to fix Victoria's crumbling road system."
Mr O'Brien said it was everyday Victorians who were left to foot-the-bill for vehicle repairs and increased wear-and-tear since the Andrews Labor government had failed to match this commitment. "Recently I met with Sale local, Tony Dunlop who is a regular driver on our local road network as he takes his partner to and from crucial medical appointments in Melbourne."
Needing proper road repair
Mr O'Brien said, "Mr Dunlop has recently been left with a $2484.40 bill to repair his vehicle after hitting unavoidable potholes on the Princes Highway. What we need is real money on the table to ensure the job is done properly the first time instead of cheaper band-aid solutions that only last weeks or months until the next heavy rain undoubtedly results in more potholes and rugged road surfaces."
"It is time for the government to implement a real solution to fix these roads and ensure that Victorian road users aren't left paying for Labor's policy failures." Mr O'Brien concluded.
